  • Software issue
  • Increased Sensitivity

Apart from the above reasons, there can be many other causes for your doorbell ringing automatically. Now, how do you fix a wireless doorbell that keeps ringing? Next up, we are going to describe this. Therefore, keep reading!

WAYS OF HOW TO FIX A RING DOORBELL THAT KEEPS RINGING

Follow the below instructions to fix the constant ringing problem of your doorbell. If one step doesn’t work, go to the other step. But keep trying until you go to the final step!

Step-1: See if anything is stuck inside the button

The most common or usual cause for your doorbell ringing automatically is something stuck inside the doorbell button. So, firstly, check the doorbell button if you see your doorbell chiming automatically. Notice if there is any dirt, mud, or other things stuck between the push button and the outlet. In this case, clean the button with a wet cloth. If the doorbell stops ringing, your doorbell is fine. But if it doesn’t, you need to move to another step.

Step-2: Reboot the device

You can reboot the system if you see no dirt sticking to the doorbell button. It’s the most common troubleshooting that anyone will tell you to do if any system starts malfunctioning. Every expert will give this advice because it turns on the system and restarts it freshly. So, just look for the power button and click on the restart to reboot the device. If your doorbell still keeps ringing after turning it on, you will need to move to the next step.

step-3: Remove the battery

Sometimes it can be a battery issue too! The doorbell can automatically ring if the battery is supplying inconsistent electricity or not working. You can get rid of this by removing the battery. To remove the battery, untighten the screws, remove the faceplate, and pull out the battery. Keep the battery in the open for 4 to 5 minutes. After that, put the battery back in its former place correctly. Now, press the button and check if the chime continuously rings or not. If it still rings, move to the next step!

Step-4: Re-adjust the motion sensitivity

The motion sensor can also be a big reason behind your doorbell ringing automatically! If it’s set to a higher number, the doorbell button will likely get triggered by small movements or heavy airflow and cause false alarms. In this case, you can fix it by adjusting the motion sensitivity. To do this, follow the below steps-

  1. Press the Three lines on the app
  2. Go to “Devices.”
  3. Select your doorbell.
  4. Choose “Motion Settings.”
  5. Open the “Motion Sensitivity Slider.”
  6. Select less motion if it’s set to all motion

Go to the next step if it still doesn’t work!

Step-5: Reset the doorbell

When everything stops working, and you don’t know what is causing your doorbell to make false alarms, the factory data reset is your best option. Though people think that reset and restart are the same, there is a big difference between them. Restart only refreshes and opens the system with the same settings. Whereas reset completely deletes everything and opens the system with its default settings. So, if you reset the system, all complications will be eradicated. Follow these steps to reset the system-

  1. Remove the screws from the doorbell
  2. Separate the device from its frame.
  3. Press and hold the orange button for 10 to 15 seconds.
  4. Release the button and observe the front light
  5. If it’s flashing continuously, it means the resetting process has started
  6. Wait till the light stops flashing (it means the reset is done)
  7. Now, put the device back in its original place and set everything

However, if the problem still continues, follow the next step!

step-6: Replace the transformer

The transformer can also create bugs sometimes. So, you should check its volt with a voltmeter first. The regular volt of a doorbell transformer is between 12-24 Volts. If the volt is any higher or lower than this, it means it’s not in good condition. You should immediately replace the transformer to check if it’s fixed or not. Otherwise, move to the next step.

step-7: Change the button location

Sometimes due to other radio signals, bugs, transmitters, or wireless devices, your doorbell can do this act of continuous ringing. These things can interrupt the doorbell signal and trigger the push bell to make the chime continuously ring. In this case, you can fix it by simply changing the position of the push button. Set it in a place that is safe from these interruptions. If it doesn’t work, go to the next step!

step-8: Look for any wiring issue

If anything above doesn’t fix your problem, it means the issue is more intense than you think. Usually, checking for any wiring issue is the last thing you can do. It can be anything as- a short circuit wire, faulty wire connections, loose wires, and many other things. This task can be risky if you don’t have any knowledge about it. So, be careful before checking the wires. Start from the beginning to the last, and thoroughly check all the wire connections. If you see anything wrong, fix it properly. Otherwise, you don’t have any other choice left other than to follow the last step!

step-9: Call a technician

Calling in a technician is the last thing you can do now. After trying everything and failing in all of them, it’s better to leave this job to an expert now. He will quickly do this task for you with the proper expertise. The person will also let you know if you need to buy a new doorbell or not. If your device is still new and under warranty, calling the customer care will be the best option. They will try to fix it or even replace it with a new one if necessary!

CONCLUSION

A wireless doorbell that keeps ringing can be pretty annoying. But if you follow the above steps one by one, you will surely be able to fix this problem. We hope this article helped you to know how to fix a ring doorbell that keeps ringing!
